Application to be a Personal Care Assistant

Becoming a Personal Care Assistant is an exciting and rewarding way of working in the field of care. If you are caring, kind and patient, then this may well be the career for you.

What is a Personal Assistant?

A personal assistant is a care assistant who is employed by the person needing care. There is no one definition or job description for a Personal Assistant as the job can be wide ranging – taking someone to the pub or a football match, getting them up or putting them to bed, intimate personal care (helping them wash, go to the toilet), or supporting them with their work...

Do I need qualifications and training?

There are no formal qualifications required to be a personal assistant. A qualification in care such as an NVQ in health and social care would be good, but it is not essential. You will require some training – safeguarding of vulnerable adults, manual handling, and health and safety.

As you will be working with vulnerable people an enhanced CRB is required, but Telopea MSL can organise this for you if you do not have one.
